Meet Patrick Olson

Hi, I’m Patrick Olson—owner and operator of Midwest Excavating & Electric.

My journey into this line of work started early. I’ve been drawn to dirt-moving equipment and machinery for as long as I can remember. When I was just eight years old, I used to tag along with my dad to the town shop where he worked. I’d climb into the equipment, flip on the lights, and if I was lucky, even fire them up. That curiosity quickly turned into a lifelong passion.

How the Business Started

Over the years, I built a career doing excavation and land services throughout the Coulee Region. I’ve worked on everything from replacing storm drains and water mains to brush clearing and site prep for outbuildings. Eventually, I started my own business—Midwest Excavating and Land Services—to provide high-quality, smaller-scale excavation work for homeowners, farmers, and contractors in need of reliable, no-nonsense help.

Expanding Into Electrical Work

I’m also a licensed Master Electrician in both Wisconsin and Iowa. Through Olson Electric, I’ve provided electrical design, installation, and service for residential, commercial, and agricultural clients since 2021. Over time, I found myself doing a lot of underground electrical work—something many others avoided—which naturally blended with my excavation expertise.
